Team Nomad at the November 2003 Southern Traverse

"Move while you can ... sleep if you dare."
-- Words of advice from race directors of the Southern Traverse Adventure Race.

The Southern Traverse is internationally recognized as one of the premier expedition-length adventure races. The event is a non-stop, multi-day race that challenges coed teams of four to various disciplines including, orienteering, mountain running, climbing, kayaking, rafting, and mountain biking across New Zealand's South Island. Teams navigate an unmarked course over mountainous terrain and along fast flowing rivers and waterways. Competitive teams strike a balance between sleep, nutrition, stamina, and patience for up to six days, covering between 400 and 450 km

Nomad finished 8th in Dunedin, on NZ's South Island. Read more or see our reconnaisance reports.
