Grant Sisler and Jason Shibata Lay Claim to VT 100
Belt Buckles
100 miles of trail running included over
14,000 vertical feet
(7.17.04) Woodstock, VT. After watching teammate
Cary Kinross-Wright complete the Vermont 100 mile
endurance run in 2003, Grant and "Shibby"
thought they would give it a go. And quite a "go"
it was: both beat the the 100-miles-in-24-hour
standard. Their prize? A priceless belt-buckle,
honorably granted to those who can bag 100 miles
in a day. Grant led the charge with an astonishingly
consistent 12 minute mile pace, finishing in 19:34
minutes: 18th out of 266 runners. Teammate Scott
Berk was there to pace Grant to the finish, completing
the last two painful miles in 44 minutes. With
Berk exhausted, Shibby was left to his own to
pace his way in - 23:44.
Photos coming, but for now, read Grant's
recap.
